National Car weekend rental as low as $1.50 for the whole weekend!

My attempt at getting myself a free shirt:

EDIT: Aw, just realized that National's not on fatwallet's list of CashBack merchants.

Using coupon code NU2889JDP and rate code 5036929, it's possible to get a midsize as cheap as $1.50 for a whole weekend, including all taxes!

Notes:

rate code 5036929 is the code for american airlines; if you need to sign up, you can for free here.

Coupon code requires you to use a visa card to purchase. Sometimes, National will request a copy of the coupon, so you can find that here.

Extra details about use of the coupon are as follows, and can be found by following the link to the coupon: must be a weekend rental (3-4 days including a Saturday overnight stay).

Hint: In order to get the $1.50 rate, makes sure to rent from a non-airport destination, since airport destinations automatically issue a $10.00 facility fee which can't be discounted!

I ended up with an Ontario, CA rental for $11.50 for Halloween weekend that I'm gonna use for a trip to Vegas.

where did the rate code come from? the visa page is a different rate code which they may ask for as well.

NU2889JDP is a valid Visa code, the discount seems to remain the same (at least for me) without the rate code. I use my regular Emerald contract ID.

I can get a midsize for 12.72 from Oct 3rd returning Oct 5th

Edit to add, at an off airport location, for me it was $4.50 tax and all. Hello LVA

Oct 3-5 here, $17.99. The aggravating thing is I'm automatically entitled to a full-size car but the discount won't let me go over midsize.

Hope a G6 is big enough.

I think it's dead on selected car classes now.
I was just playing around and get 2.53 total for the weekend at dtw for the most luxury SUV
and all of sudden, "coupon can not be applied"

I just signed up for the discount for this weekend in IL and got 3 days with taxes ect. for 0.56 cents. That is crazy, right?

Thanks OP! The codes worked like a charm! But I need an Emerald Aisle so I had to pay the extra cash (only came to $5.16 though).

Total for four days, three nights (Fri noon pick up - Mon noon drop off) comes to $24.13. I put in my AMEX card just to test the waters cause I get Cash Back on it... went through still! Keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes through when I pick up the car! I'll give them a Visa if they push it though.
