Ok, I'm a silver powerseller with over 6400 feedback.

My DSR's are as follows: 4.8, 4.8, 4.9, 4.7

100% positive feedback with no policy violations.

Recently, I was listing some designer jackets and was hit with this message

"Thank you for choosing eBay.

In order to help maintain a safe trading environment, selling limits are occasionally placed on listings. At this time, you are limited in the number of certain items you may list and/or revise in a 30 day period.

Sellers who have built a long-standing and consistent positive history of selling such items may be eligible to have these limits raised. If you believe that you would qualify and would like eBay to review your limits, please email us at Customer Support.

We sincerely value you as a member of our trading Community and look forward to a continued successful relationship with you.

Click here for a window with more information on eBay’s listing guidelines."

I emailed customer support and after 7 days was finally told that my limits could not be raised and that I should email them back in 90 DAYS!!.

I could not figure out what was going on since I have, previous to this month, sold well over 200 of these same jackets on eBay. I do not sell fakes or "knock offs". After a quick google search, I found that this has been happening since the first of the month and that there is a running list of items that they are placing limits on.

Editing your item also counts against "the magic number". If you reach your magic number and your item does not sell, you can forget about reslisting.

Just a heads up to anyone that sells designer merchandise.

I ripped this from one of the eBay forums

"Another member has this list on their Me Page. Since it appears that even more brands are triggering the restrictions, feel free to add missing brands that you've been restricted in selling.

Posts on various Boards the last two days indicates that even using a term relative to the listing but that could also be a brand is triggering restrictions - i.e., a toy train seller has been restricted based on his listing for "Miniature Pullman Coach Car" or something like that - we think it might have been "coach" in the listing since the brand of the toy train wasn't one on the list. But, with eBay, who knows?

it happened to me several months back with designer sunglasses. That's all i sell and they let me list them, but when i went back in to try and revise some it would only let me revise about 5 or so auctions. Saying the same type of thing....then after that it wouldn't let me list anymore for about a week. I contacted eBay and told them that this is ALL my feedback from eBay was these sunglasses etc and they raised the limit. I'm guessing there is a lot of fraud in the area you're selling in so this is their way of limiting it or picking through to see which one's are legit etc.

I don't get what they base all their stuff on. I had a designer sunglass display stand that was pulled due to copyright......but tell me how non-powerseller's can sell the same stand all day long wiht the same wording and not ever have theirs pulled? basically eBay sucks haha.

yup and me too, a powerseller with 100% feedback and all dsr over 4.5.

i have been emailing eBay over this for quite some time.
it all seems very arbitrary and they do not provide enough details,
i.e. what brands? what's the # limit? why now all of a sudden?

i ask them if there's anything i can do to raise my limit, such as providing more info, etc.
but seriously, all you will get is a generic email,
giving you totally bogus reasons for why they placed limits on your account.

i tried calling safety and trust and was told there is no way to reach them by phone.

btw, the counterfeits from china are still all over eBay.

eBay sucks!

Talk to your powerseller rep, not regular customer service. Once I saw the limit message on my account I sent him an email. Got the following reply in about an hour:

"Thanks for the email, it was good to hear from you!!

I sat down with my Trust & Safety liaison and went over the error
message your getting. Every seller has certain limitations placed on
there account, only after a seller shows a good history of selling a
particular item are these limitations removed.

As we looked into your account, it was apparent that you offer a good
product and even better service. The selling limitations have now been
removed from your account. You should be able to list without recieveing
any sort of error messages. If the error messages continue, let me know
and I will take another look at the problem.

Thanks again, I hope this helps and gets you started on the right foot
to a successful Holiday season.

Let me know if you need anything else."

I'm a Gold PS with 3k+ feedback, but probably close to dropping a level or two due to a recent lack of selling. I'm not sure what triggered me getting the powerseller rep, but it can be helpful. So the limits can be raised, it's just a matter of who you talk to. You might want to try powerseller phone support. I've found them to be more helpful in the past.

it just happened to me again with designer sunglasses. of course you can't contact anyone by phone or chat/email that knows what they are talking about to fix the issue. All they tell me is trust and safety can ONLY be contacted by the link in the error message. what a joke!!! The powerseller support line doesn't do jack either. eBay sucks!

Hello all. I was a silver now I am a bronze powerseller. I have contacted eBay on numerous occassions concerning the spending limit. I keep ALL receipts for items that I resell. Recently I emailed receipts from the coach store and they still would not lift the hold. This is not fair a criminal has his day in court but we are not allowed to defend ourselves??? eBay is 100% for the buyer. All sellers should come together and constantly complain until something is done about this.

I have contacted them several times and it takes them a week or longer to get back to me....BY email only! they still won't lift my selling limits and said it would hold for 90 days. powerseller w/ 100% positive feedback, 4.9 dsr's....don't get it! so F*CK eBay!

I have 2400+ and 1 neg given by a Jerk. I ran into the same problem but I was trying to list a $4.00 BIN item. I got the same B/S from eBay not being able to raise my limit my DSR are all 4.9 with 4.8 on shipping. How can a person know what to order and then have them pull the rug out from under you and make you sit on mdise. Like everyone else I hope there will be a alternative to eBay in the future. gregsconcessions

Last month I sold 30 pairs of shades.....i see people selling 600 pairs a month and i get the hold on my account?? come on!

Here's an update guys. A few days after posting this, I was suddenly able to list things again. There was no notification from eBay that my restrictions had been lifted. In fact, when I emailed support, I was told that my restriction would last for 90 days. They have the most pathetic customer service of just about any company that I've dealt with. You tell me another company that could have that level of customer service and survive. I can't think of any. It is only a matter of time for them. Rising eBay fees, rising Postal rates on the horizon, things are looking bleek for online sellers. Good luck to all and please let me know if I can be of assistance.

Still no response from CSR after 24h. What a PITA. Whose bright idea was this to block people listing items after certain limit?

I emailed them back when they said they would check back 90 days later and I need to continue to provide a positive experience for the buyer's by listing more items....in which I CAN'T list! They came back and basically said I was selling fraudulent items and that the hold will stay for 90 more days if not more. f*ck eBay man.

Same here..100% feedback, DSR 5,5,5,4.9 I'm selling mini perfumes for around ~$10 each (all real from gift sets bought directly through Sephora) and they limited me. I was able to list 7 and it will not allow me to list again after it was sold and I even received positive feedbacks. I have to wait a full 30 days to list another 7. I even tried to list a $5 lipstick from Estee Lauder and that doesn't even work! And I'm trying to get rid of some inventory before Christmas. This is just driving people crazy!

I've only sold the same item for all my feedback (Oakley sunglasses) and last month i sold 15-20 pairs??? There are people pumping out 200-500 pairs a month and i'm the one that gets blocked? The messed up part is....i was blocked about a month ago so the inventory i purchased to sell for the holidays is just sitting in the closet and won't be able to be sold in time for xmas. once i am able to list more, once that inventory is sold i'm done with eBay.
