Hi,

I need help, I don't buy much on eBay, maybe 50 to 100 items over the past several years. I have 100% positive feedback and I've never encountered a seller that was dishonest or did not give a good discription of the item...until now. I used the buy it now feature and bought yarn, about $60 worth so it's not a huge transaction. I know I'm taking a chance of people having animals or items coming from a smokers home and that I'll have to deal with that. However the yarn I got from this woman is totally saturated all the way through with cat urine. The smell is so bad that when I opened the package my eyes and throat burned. She states no returns on her listing, but she also does not state that I would be bidding on urine contaminated yarn. Now looking at her feedback she has had several bad feedback instances since I bought the yarn nearly 20 days ago ( I just got the yarn in the last few days) and all of them state the same issue of cat urine. It's not just a little either, it is so much that you can see it dried onto the yarn kind of coating it. I've never had to leave bad feedback for anyone and am nervous about doing so. I would like to file a claim about this, but am unsure how I proceed. I've emailed the woman and she has not responded, other people who have had this issue with her have also said she does not respond to complaints. Everything says I need to try to work it out with her first, do I just consider that part done now and ask eBay or PayPal to step in and help?

File a paypal complaint of item not as described. You will have to send the item back to her with tracking. As long as you do this you will win any paypal complaint.

Also given sellers can't give negs having 100% positive as a buyer isn't exactly impressive.

Geez, Lord B,

Sorry if I offended you stating I had 100% positive feedback, I had no intention of gloating or anything of that nature. I did not know that sellers could not leave neg. feedback, as I stated I don't do a lot of buuying and no selling on eBay. thank you for your attempt at helping me, but in the future if you see a post of mine, just skip it, there are plenty of kinder people out there who may answeer without making me feel like a jerk.

Yes, just file with paypal and get your money back. You will be out return shipping, as stated above - but will get what you paid plus shipping you paid. If you need help with the claim process there are several ways to contact eBay or paypal. Online Chat, e-mai, phone, etc. You can google for their number if needed, but they have been better in the past few months with providing that info. Good luck. Also leave Neg!!!! Stick to the facts and warn other buyers!

I think you are being a bit defensive. LordB seemed to be pretty helpful.

Guess i could have worded that last part differently. It certainly does sound jerkish though i really didn't intend for it to sound that way. I was in a rush when i was typing that.

Buyer stated year(s) so that feedback means something...

It should be noted that you will always win the dispute - but you may not always get your money back.
If the money is gone, it's gone.. The only recourse is a chargeback.
ALWAYS pay for your eBay items via CC, not via bank transfer (paypal default)

Also note that you may be required to ship the item back at your own expense. Tracking is required.

It didn't really seem that jerkish, just not carefully phrased to avoid accidently offending. The background info in the OP was slightly useful but the most important info was $60 worth of cat urine soaked yarn and a seller not getting back regarding the complaint. The correct advice was offered.

I think mailing cat urine might be illegal. Report him to the post office.

The PURFECT Regulation (Pu$$y Urine Restriction Falsified Exemtion Certificate Taxation) states: Sec-1, Par-A, SS-a "Shipping yarn formally played with by kittens is okay to ship via United States Postal Service, unless said yarn is also urinated on/in by same, or other kitten/cat(s)"

With skin that thick, you might consider a career in sales. You'd rise to the top in no time.

Years means nothing, eBay only counts the past 12 months for feedback percents - so you could have had 1000000 negative marks with 0% feedback, But then wait 1 year get 1 pos., and now have 100% feedback.

Also you are wrong about the "if the money is gone, it's gone"
Unless you mean when Paypal runs out of money?
There DO NOT have to be any funds left in the seller account. There are several ways for Paypal to go about collecting this money - but they will not even make you wait that long. Paypal will cover the loss, and refund your money out of pocket when $0 funds in the sellers account. This was not always the case, but now every eBay purchase is covered. I've filled several claims, a few with $0 left in account, each and everyone was refunded in full by Paypal.

1) If the seller's account was cleaned out and the purchase not "protected" - then eBay won't refund.
2) If the purchase is protected... If *every* purchase is not protected, then I stand corrected. I can't see eBay protecting sales from sellers with poor feedback though.
3) If you file SNAD, you'll be required to ship it back. You need to know enough to track it and provide proof of tracking. For yarn, I'd be surprised if it's worth the postage.

Pay with a CC and don't worry about any of this stuff.
