I'm looking for a camera with a fast boot up and cycle time for pictures. Cnet doesn't allow you to filter by that criteria. Any suggestions on one for under/around $100?

do you mean boot up time or shutter lag time?

boot up time on most POS cameras have been pretty normal depening on the zoom of the lens within 1-2 seconds Our little POS camera is pretty quick on boot up but the shutter lag kills me

Yep, newer POS cameras have really quick boot up times. My Canon is literally less than a second.

But shutter lag will be your biggest issue. You can't really get away from it with POS cameras. Have to usually step up to DSLRs

POS = Piece of shit.

Do you mean Point 'n Shoot?

Damn, I was just following IOUs abbreviations. Didn't think anything of it.

If you want a good camera, don't buy a POS.

Yes, shutter lag's a problem. But can't really get away from that. I really want a Point-N-Shoot camera my Mother can easily turn on and use. Just needs the basics of 3x optical zoom and above 2 megapixals. But it also should be very easy to use.

But it also should be very easy to use.You can point and shoot with a DSLR as well and all you have to do is turn on and shoot, no one says you have to use all the other features. You may have to solve the budget problem first. Pick a Canon A or SD series and that may be the best that can be done.

To turn on & take 2 pictures that would take almost 7 seconds? That's a big long.
