Since being assigned to my new classroom in September, I have slowly developed dry hands, something I have never experienced. I have to wash my hands about 6-8 times a day, or at least rinse them, and they are becoming dry. My normal OTC cheap lotion is not working well. About 10 minutes after I apply it, I can feel the roughness again.

I tried a pricey lotion at Sephora last week and it lasted for hours, plus smelled good. Before I sink a ton of money into this product (and it would be a ton because I'd have to buy it often) is there a reasonable priced product that I may have overlooked that you guys can recommend that might work just as well?

Thanks!

Do you know anyone who sells Mary Kay? The extra emollient lotion (part of the satin hands set but it's also sold seperately) is awesome. It's kind of like vaseline, but it seeps in well and moisturizes quickly. I use it every day in the winter to keep my knuckles from cracking. I never wear gloves anymore since I never walk anywear and my hands pay the price.

The product I tried in Sephora was in a jar and almost as thick as Vaseline.

You literally need a dime sized dollop each time. When I get home, I can see if I have any in my closet still I can send you. I still have a few thousand dollars in products sitting around.

I love Bath and Body Works' True Blue Spa "look ma, new hands" with contains paraffin. It's super-thick but not greasy. Also not cheap but if on promo or if there are coupons it can be a decent price (pump is 5 oz for $18.50 and worth every cent imo) and very little product is used at a time. There are smaller size tubes but not as good a value. 2/$20 sale has the 2.5 oz tube included, which would be $1.50 more than buying the pump at regular price.

Also, the soap that used at your work might be too harsh. When I started working at my office, they were using Dial liquid soap which is not good soap imo (great for drying out your skin, though). I switched brands and noticed an improvement in a few days.

I will look at the link and would be happy to try some from your stash!

I did not think of that.

Vaseline is my suggestion, smother hands at night, slip in gloves, next day have replinished moist hands.

LOL, I think I answer this question from someone here every winter!

Minnesota winters are brutal to the hands, especially when you wash them many times a day to avoid germs. Here are my recommendations in order of best to good:

note that the tubes of lotion are slightly better than the pump bottles since the lotion isn't "watered down" to be pump-able.

Aveeno
Gold Bond Ultimate Healing
Curel (I see they now have a hand one, I haven't tried it yet)
Lubriderm Advanced Therapy
Nexcare Advanced Skin Cream
BBW Look Ma, New Hands
