I took mine back the manager at Best Buy knew the problem and I was so happy the kids trashed the guiter in the first week. they still refunded the cash...
FYI, there has been lots of info about that issue. I would be shocked if any manager of any electronics store didn't know about the problem. The game only has mono sound for wii. They're replacing the mono disks for free. They send you an envelope, you drop your mono disk in it, and they send back a stereo disk. You register for the replacement program here.
How can you tell if your copy of the game is the old mono version? I currently don't have surround sound, but might be getting a system soon. Just want to be sure I can play the game at full quality if I ever do. I'm 99% sure that ALL games sold to this point are the old mono version. |

Gonna keep the guitar and sell the game -- I needed an extra guitar How are you going to sell the game? Don't you need a guitar in order to play the game? |

simmias said:doublejbass said:Depends on how inaccurate your definition of "around the same" is. The Wii is at least an order of magnitude more powerful than the PS2.The big issue for 'tendo to figure out with their Rock Band port will be where to put the DLC. A few more Mhz in your GPU ain't gonna fix that. DLC shouldn't really be too large of a problem (pun intended) if done correctly. What is the average mp3 size? 5-7mb? I thought I had seen somewhere that they use ogg audio compression (similar file size to mp3). Be generous, and double that, 10-15MB per new song. Guitar tabs can go in a highly compressed text file, along with the animation scripts to make the characters move/sing... Lets see, the will has 512MB internal storage, should be good for about 30 new songs. 30 songs is an awful lot of new content, I easily see them being greedy and make people purchase an entire new game for $50 for that many new songs... Keep in mind you have an SD slot, and 2GB SD cards run about ~$15 right now, so this really shouldn't be too large of a problem at all, just copy things back and forth if needed. The Nintendo shop remembers everything you buy anyways, so you can always re-download if need be. Now this all depends if the DLC was done correctly by Activision, which seems pretty unlikely sine those idiots couldn't even get the audio correct for the Wii the first time. Will have to wait and see..... Anyways to get back on topic, This really is a Great deal! I think it has been announced that the stand-alone guitar will be going for $60 once released in a few weeks. So for just $10 more, you get a 2nd copy of the game. Which really makes the fact that those idiots at Activision want people to just mail in their current copy of the (Wii) game once the new version is available, and go without the game for how ever long it will take them to send you the fixed (stereo) version. This deal was well worth it for me! I have my 2nd copy now. 2 player really is fun! And you don't have to have the guitar to play, you can just use the buttons on the wiimote to play the notes, it is just way more fun to have the guitar! |

I just came back from TRU at Times Square in NYC with 2 Guitar Heroes III for the Wii. Also, I noticed a huge stack of Wii consoles that they just received. Hurry if you want to get both and have a jam session tonight! |

Yesterday the USPS mailman brought me a self-addressed, prepaid disk mailer envelope for returning my GH3 Wii disk... I guess I signed up online a few weeks ago. To send it in now or to wait for the rush to end??? |

Be generous, and double that, 10-15MB per new song.I like your enthusiasm, but I don't want you to get your hopes up. I can only speak for the PS2 and PS3 versions, because those are the ones I have. Each song you download for the PS3 is at least 20-30 MB. Complicated/longer songs like the ones in the Metallica pack (i.e. the ones people will want) are significantly larger. The Metallica pack with three songs is 142 MB (!) |

I'm wouldn't be surprised if they had a plug and play hard drive for the wii to facilitate games like this. |

You are at Activisions mercy, if I still only had one copy, I would call and demand a pre-ship swap out. I didn't go out and pay for the game on release day just to go without it for (probably) weeks because they screwed up. I'm glad I don't have to do that now.
Just saw today on wiifanboy that people were starting to get them... finally...

What I am saying should be pretty accurate, and has the big IF they did things right, which I kind of doubt since they couldn't even get the audio correct. 142MB for 3 songs is about 47MB per song, for which an empty Wii would hold about 10-11 new songs. They (Nintendo) really needs to work on allowing games to read directly from an SD card, which could easily solve the problem (Multiple SD Cards). |

wth. screw that crap! its their mistake and they should ship first and THEN we should ship our disc. we've already gone all this time without surround sound and now we have to go without the game until they decide to "process" their f**k up? thats complete garbage! |

Called two TRU near me, and was told it was out of stock. They did not expect more this week. Went to TRU trying to grab a flyer to price match at BB, and was shock to see there were four on the self. Not sure why the store employee lied? Are they eBay seller also? Not sure why some fellow fatwalleter got dozens of them. There is not much profit for this. |
