jack, have you been talking to the Credit Dept (number in the Credit Card Issuer Faq, answers immediately), or frontline CSRs? Typically I've found the former much more knowledgeable about these things.

Typically I've found the former much more knowledgeable about these things. In cardjuggler's post, I did find the credit department number (866-408-4064). I spoke with a credit rep there. Rep said there is no time requirement from when you close to when you are eligible to apply for a new card.

I clarified by asking, "so if I apply for a Juniper 13 month card, close 13 months later an reapply the next day for a new 13 month card, there won't be any rejection based on 'recency of being a Barclay's business cardholder'?"

hoever....The credit rep couldn't find my closed Bank Atlantic card (he found every personal card I've ever had dating back to 2001). That said, I'll try back a little later and will update this post if the information changes...

As it stands right now, I'm going to pull trigger on Sep 1st to test a 19 day waiting period from closure to re-application/approval.

FWIW, I called their credit department again and this time spoke with Alicia - She reiterated the same information as prior post. I used a diferent talk-of this time:

ME:"I may have made a mistake. I - I - I'm not sure. I closed my current Bank Atlantic business card and might still need it. Would my 0% BT offer still be in effect? I'm in month 12 of a 15 month promotion."

REP:"You can re-apply at anytime for a new business card"

ME: "I assume you'll need to do a complete credit check again? Right? Will you use TransUnion for that?"

REP:"We use all three major credit reporting agencies. However, yes - we use TransUnion for many of our applications."

Separately, I can't believe kitsapfreeloader, drazda and poo haven't negged the thread yet.
And where's althes with the 5 word lowercase cant wait for this one blurb ?

Some isser's rapidly report new tradelines, so time is of the essence after any new personal cards applied to. IMO, freezing EX is worth the trouble only when doing a rolling BiZ AOR, otherwise it might not be worth the trouble. Once the new trades hit the report, you'll see your score tank whether or not EX is frozen. EX does see the tradelines the fastest, however. I am able to freeze, and unfreeze EX online, so there is no delay waiting for PINS by mail.. I do see you may gain a little by forcing some banks to not PULL EX, but you'll need to be quick.

JCF: I really appreciate your sharing the results of the phone calls. It is very valuable information.

Thanks!

I will cross my fingers for you.

Experian posts everything quickly, and they've never allowed silly bumpage. Seems like they're the only CRA with their sh*t together. If I were on the other side of the table, I'd never pull anything else.

Jack, did you transfer any of your Bank ATL CL to a personal Juniper card before closing? That's my plan. The credit dept told me last summer this should be possible.

Is that definitely possible? I have a 42k line with Bank Atlantic. That would be real nice to do if possible.

The only thing I don't like about Bank Atlantic is the 20k limit to BTs. I had to do two separate 20k BTs, two separate $75 fees. Annoying. I wonder if the Juniper Biz card has the same restriction.

The credit dept told me last summer this should be possible. While that sounds like an ideal plan, I confess that I never even thought of it...I simply assumed that ANY reallocation from business to personal is never possible - no matter which issuer is in question. Think they'll let me reallocate now? the day after closure?----yeah right... great idea, lhendricks92...just two days late..

half joking: Where were you when I posted OP "I will be closing my existing Barclays BankAtlantic Business card very soon. .....I set-up the payoff on 8/11/2008 and will request closure at that time."DjPiLL said:...I wonder if the Juniper Biz card has the same restriction. My understanding from the credit rep I spoke with the other day is the Juniper 13 month Business card behaves the same way the Bank Atlantic card behaves (as far as BT fees being assessed for each BT over 20k).

DJ, I don't know if it's possible - I don't if anyone's tried. Go for it.

EDIT:

Jack, where were you when I mentioned this idea earlier?

Maybe it's worth trying to see if you get something small moved first. Like $1000. You can attempt this even if you have a balance on the BIZ card.

Jack, call them back to see if you can reopen and then reallocate. Most cards can be reopened if requested soon after closure. Worth a shot.

Yeah better call that special credit department number too because I don't think the average BankAtlantic CSR will be able to reallocate. They may be able to reopen, but probably not reallocate.

(tail between the legs) uhh... yeah I either forgot about that one... or didn't subscribe in time to DJ's thread.

I called Barclay's Credit department 866-408-4064 to request reopen. I think you all will like this. The following is how it went down (some minor paraphrasing):

ME:Can I reopen a closed business card I closed just 2 days ago?
BC:SSN please... I don't see any business cards. hold please.....
(2minutes)..it looks like your card is with a different company. One moment while I get them conferenced in. (3 rings rings heard) If you can't re-open the existing one, you could always re-apply as an added option. (I didn't have time to confirm what she said because the Bank Atlantic rep answered)
BA:Bank Atlantic
BC:I have a cardholder on the line that would like to reopen a business card
BA:
(as though no-one on the line) Hello? (now confused)are you {inaudible} customer service?
BC:This is the Barclay's credit department
ME:I'd like to see if I can re-open my biz card
BA:Your going to have to put him on hold.

after a 7 minute wait....

BC:Thanks for waiting so patiently. They've re-opened your account for you.
ME: Oh...OK...
(a bit surprised). I was asking to see whether it was an option - - - it looks like that's a definite possibility. I'm sorry to call you and take so much of your time in Credit - I merely assumed I'd have to re-apply which is why I called you
BC:That's quite alright. They have an aggreement with us to do their underwriting for them.
(here comes the part I liked best)If you can't get your issues resolved via their main number you can call us.

The call took a total of 13 minutes so I didn't bother the very kind credit person with immediate consolidation. I'll call tomorrow and request that (watch closely, lhendricks92, et al).

Two unknowns at this point:
1) If Barclays Credit cannot even see the Bank Atlantic account (I assume it's purged from their credit underwriting database after an arbitrary 180 days), how will calling them asking to consolidate a mystery account to a personal Nat'l Parks card go over? We'll see.

2) I get the impression that there is a disconnect - albeit a beneficial one - between vanilla CSR Bank Atlantic reps and the ninja Barclay's credit reps regarding the waiting period between closure and re-application. This rep had mentioned simply re-applying (just like the one from yesterday).

MORE TO COME... STAY TUNED

alert mods

huh, now i'm wondering if you should just apply for the generic Barclays biz card. if (when) you get turned down ("sufficient credit with juniper"), call the credit ninjas and tell them to close BankATL and consolidate the line with the new biz card.

benefits: 1) less likely to lose CL in the process and 2) easier for credit ninjas to see (and play with) the new card.

downsides? lose an extra 2 months on the BT.

Restated:

1) Apply for JuniperBiz Card (13 month BT)

2a) Get approved for JuniperBiz Card (small line)
3a) Consolidate BankAtlantic to JuniperBiz

OR

2b) Get denied JuniperBiz Card (too much Barclays credit)
3b) Close BankAtlantic to in order to get approved JuniperBiz

then

4) BT to 99%

Sounds like FUN! I'm game for that plan. Modified OP to include JuniperBiz Card in the hopes that I can in fact have a JuniperBiz and a Bank Atlantic Biz active at the same time...

treading new waters ..... thanks for the idea, lhendricks!

I applied for an invitation from USBank before it expiredI applied on 8/7/2008. I called 8/11. Credit rep put through to 'verifications' department. They requested paystub with address and mortgage statement with address. Rep said my annual mortgage interest statement also 'should work.' Fax number provided was 701-461-3631 (verifications department). She also provided me the reference number of my application.NOTE: on the original USBank application I requested $35000 to Citi ATT Universal

UPDATE:
8/11 (10AM): I faxed in the information
8/11 (2PM): email from USBank:Thank you for your interest in the U.S. Bank Visa(R) Platinum Card. We were unable to approve your application based on the information you provided. You will receive additional information on your application request via U.S. Mail in 7-10 days
8/11 (3PM): called and after I explained that I had just faxed supporting verification documents, was told the email is a standard email and the app is still under review.

8/13 (3PM): a 2nd inquiry! GRRRRR Per True Credit > "US BANK 08/13/2008 TransUnion" (at least bumpable - I wonder if they wanted EX too)
8/13 (4PM): A credit alert directs me to a CITI Account Information request:

Account Information
A new account has appeared on your credit report.
Here are the details of this new account:

 Reported By: Equifax
 Reported On: 08/13/2008
 Date Opened: 08/01/2007
 Account Number: abcdefghijk****
 Creditor's Name: CITIBANK USA NA

That specific account happens to be a recently closed Professional account. However, I am concerned that the review may be related to my USBank BT to cause credit balance on ATT card.

1) Am I being paranoid?
2) Will Citi crash on my plans to do AOR2.0 to the fullest extent?
