You may have read that in the US Bank thread you linked next to the Linux card in the OP. It seems to be everyone's experience that they'll allow a no-fee BT after the application. I've done it twice this year with the Baylor card, once for my wife and once for me. Both times: 1) I submitted a BT request on the app that ended up being larger than my CL...so no BT was processed, 2) I called in to process the BT because I've read, and was told by a CSR, that there are reports of online BTs not being processed correctly, and 3) the CSRs confirmed that I had a no-fee BT offer for 30 (or 60?) days. Still a good data point for those that wish to do it online and don't want to call in. |

No Income verification call to my wife....... wait... on the app as I recall there was a spot for employment verification... I gave them the 800 number for my wifes fortune 500 employer (provided them the access code and everything). There were 4 checks included in IBERIA welcome package. Every check was labeled in caps "VALID FOR BALANCE TRANSFER ONLY" I think IBERIA treats balance transfers in a similar "delay-able" manner like Citi does... Per terms and conditions: Your APR for balance transfers processed within 3 months of your account open date will be zero percent for the first six billing periods from the posting date of the balance transfer check I might utilize the card for a few purchases and initiate a BT on November 1st, 2008 (maybe rates will go up - inflation's over 5% now)...

ME: I'd like to check the status of my business card apps REP: OK.... I see you were recently approved for 2 personal cards: 1 Chase Plat MCard® 12 0% 75 6000 limit and 18 Chase/Disney 12 0% 50 10000 limit. The business apps will not be approved unless we close one of your personal accounts. Would you like to be considered for a business card? ME: Yes, please. REP: What is the nature of your business, income, employment, etc ME: The nature is as follows...bla bla bla REP: In order to be considered for the 6 Chase Biz (AKA FUSA) 15 0% 99, which card will you close? ME: (After confirming that another hard pull would not happen) Yes, I'll hold. REP: I'm going to recommend that this business card application is approved for $6000. Anything else today? ME: Whoa... wait... You can't guarantee approval? and if that's the case, I'd like to keep my $6000 personal card left open. REP: I understand.
Now we'll see what happens. It would appear that CHASE does not hand out business credit like candy for Mrs Jackcrawfish.CHASE denied the business card application... Since I've started ignoring these letters, I've been deluged by specific offers such as pre-approvals for the Diamond Preferred Rewards and Dividend Platinum Select cards, both received on 7/25 with letter dates of 6/27, (having uncapped BT fees), and expiration dates of 7/27. Huh?
Earlier this week, I received pre-approved offers of overdraft protection, a home equity loan, and a HELOC. Other than the HELOC, the rates were terrible.
I wouldn't advise both (ab)using the CashReturns card and doing BTs with Citi concurrently. It's asking for trouble. Thanks for the feedback... I searched the DYING Cash Returns thread and confirmed your comments. I'll have her call in later tonight.....hmmmm maybe I could add a Professional card, immediately consolidate to cash returns, then do some laundry.... just as GroveStreetOG suggestsReceived email confirming the 8/18/2008 opening of a Citi Professional card (they pulled EQ on 8/11/2008). She saw bumpage today of 2 old EQ inquiries... Sent email to CHASE: Please research this account credit line and status. I was approved for $6000 originally but was told I could close and receive a business card instead (for the same credit line). I just received notice of denial regarding the business application. Their response: In order to better assist you, we have forwarded your request on to the appropriate department for review. I forgot about a personal CHASE card I applied for (invitation only). I'm going to update the OP shortly. Short version:
- I applied for five (5) Chase cards (important: I was thinking there were only 4 apps!).
- I received three (3) Chase denial letters.
- With one Disney CHASE approval, I presumed the business card was denied. I mistakenly reported the business card as denied for too many inquiries when, in fact, it was the invitation to apply CHASE application mentioned in the OP which was denied.
I hope this makes some sense. I apologize for the confusion. |

Thats good to hear about Chase Biz taking longer than most. Mine is the last card to get back to me, and it still says they are doing a review. Did you call or do anything to try and get them to move faster? At this point, I'm thinking of just going through with all my BTs and forget about chase biz for now. And if it comes, it comes. Only thing I'm concerned about is that my chances of getting approved might drop if they do the review and see the loads of balances across my cards. |

The first application was declined and a letter was sent with the reason for our decision. In order to approve the second application, your account ending 4818 was closed and the credit line was consolidated to your new Business Card account ending ####, which was established on August 14, 2008. |

I requested a cr bal refund from Citi for $27,250 on 8/20/2008 as two Bank Atlantic BT's posted. An email came 8/22/2008 from Citi saying they need to verify payments. On 8/21/2008 (yesterday) a payment from US Bank posted to the same Citi account for $16,115. When I try to request a new cr bal refund, the check amount will be $43,615. lesson learned: I should have waited a day for the US Bank BT payment to post to request a single check for $43,615 I'll be waiting a month to get the cash.... |

Link D 00000 EX Wife called yesterday (8/24/2008) and was told a freeze must be lifted (she went through and gave her full SSN and Experian pin number but in the end was told that she must lift the freeze by contacting Experian. Since we lifted it for BOA today (8/25/08), I initiated an online chat to decide whether she had to call in to continue app processing. The online rep said she must reapply altogether. I re-applied and received an instant cancelled app (different from decline):Thank you for your recent application for Clear from American Express. It is our pleasure to service your request for an American Express card. However, our records indicate that you have recently submitted more than one application for American Express card(s), therefore this request has been cancelled.
Your original application is now being reviewed and a final decision is pending. We will inform you of a decision shortly. As a result no further action will be taken on your duplicate request. So from this it appears her AMEX CLEAR application is processing... |

Mrs Jackdrawfish does exist, right? Neither I nor my wife thought it was very inconvenient for her to verify herself and allow me to talk to CSRs, but it seems that you go the extra mile to try not to involve her, e.g. online chats and the bullet above. Maybe your wife is even more adverse to talking on the phone than my wife was. Regardless, at least you're demonstrating what can be done online and over the phone without the wife's involvement. |

Luckily my wife has a gender neutral name, so I am often her with phone CSRs. I've wondered if it weren't so neutral, would I ever get questioned, because I'm sure that for every single "boys" name out there, there's a girl with that name as well. I bet CSRs learn real quick not to question someone's gender over the phone. Also, I've wondered if companies keep an internal note of gender for you account. Anyone happen to know? |
