Since I've started ignoring these letters, I've been deluged by specific offers such as pre-approvals for the Diamond Preferred Rewards and Dividend Platinum Select cards, both received on 7/25 with letter dates of 6/27, (having uncapped BT fees), and expiration dates of 7/27. Huh?
Earlier this week, I received pre-approved offers of overdraft protection, a home equity loan, and a HELOC. Other than the HELOC, the rates were terrible.
I wouldn't advise both (ab)using the CashReturns card and doing BTs with Citi concurrently. It's asking for trouble. Thanks for the feedback... I searched the DYING Cash Returns thread and confirmed your comments. I'll have her call in later tonight.....hmmmm maybe I could add a Professional card, immediately consolidate to cash returns, then do some laundry.... just as GroveStreetOG suggests |

As mentioned already, I want to build a good bed of credit (various issuers) so that her AOR2.0 might be more appealing. To those that voted in my prior post ... please provide comments as to why I SHOULD NOT provide a Pin.... TIA |

ME: (After confirming that another hard pull would not happen) Yes, I'll hold. REP: I'm going to recommend that this business card application is approved for $6000. Anything else today? ME: Whoa... wait... You can't guarantee approval? and if that's the case, I'd like to keep my $6000 personal card left open. REP: I understand. Now we'll see what happens. It would appear that CHASE does not hand out business credit like candy for Mrs Jackcrawfish.

I'll admit it's slightly strange that you were talking to a credit ninja (reviewing your credit report) who could only 'recommend' an approval on the card. However, I don't think it's a particular sign of tightening, and the odds sound very good you'll get the business card. |

Also, with Chase, I thought using the automated line was the preferred method of inquiry. However, it sounds like Chase held up processing of your business apps - that sucks. |

As for disputing EQ inquiries, that ability has sadly gone away. Anyone have different recent experience?
jackcrawfish said:edit: my bad... it was US Bank edit2: i see Venturion disputed inquiries via Win333 technique (I'll search for his technique unless someone here feels "spoon generous") edit3: If I'm reading Win333's post correctly: 1) fill report with softs using multiple services 2) prior to choppage, "trap" the softs pulled in step 1 by disputing with EQSilver 3) continue pulling with services. When choppage happens, only the softs pulled following the EQSilver dispute will be removed With a recent EQ full report in hand (such as you get after filing a dispute or through your annual FCRA request, or I guess by just buying your report from EQ), you can call the 800 number listed on the report, enter the report number and dispute inquiries by phone. My theory is that they do not even investigate, just delete the one or two you dispute and move on, as they seem to pull them within an hour or two. Within the past few weeks this has worked. There is no way to dispute inquiries online, however. You could probably also write a letter. I would not abuse this procedure, however. You should have reason to believe the inquiries are not legitimate (such as, FIA card services made an inquiry and you only bank with Bank of America, or that First USA hit your credit, while your only credit card is with Chase). Cheers... |

Thanks for the clarification, VW. EQ used to allow inquiry disputes online - I had five or six inquiries removed that way from my last A0R. The reasons could be considered legitimate and have been the subject of numerous discussions. I'm glad to hear the old fashioned ways still work. The online method was removed as EQ no longer shows inquiries when you dispute online (or at least when I tried two weeks ago) as they used to. |

Only needs SSN. (option 2) Chase automated system:800-945-2006, wait, #, 2, SSN (gives status of both personal and business apps) I called the first number, entered ssn and HAD to go to a rep to get info. I tried the second option today and realized this option is COMPLETELY automated. Although rep told me last week one personal and one business card would be approved, all apps via this option 2 were "being reviewed." Interestingly, the automated line identified Mrs Jackcrawfish's applications as follows (note the 7/30 received app being the 2nd app reviewed). 1st application received on 31-Jul being reviewed 2nd application received on 30-Jul being reviewed 3rd application received on 31-Jul being reviewed 4th application received on 31-Jul being reviewed |

Explain this one... pay close attention to the dates Juniper = AppID 1000 applied 07/30/2008 11:50 first app = instant 10000 IFly = AppID 1001 applied 07/30/2008 11:59 second app = Sufficient crdt avail on acct issued by Barclays BestWestern = AppID 1002 applied 07/30/2008 16:20 third app = Sufficient crdt avail on acct issued by Barclays FarmBureau = AppID 1003 applied 08/01/2008 01:30 fourth app = deferred 2500 approval THEORY** Please note that for Mrs J's credit report pulled on 07/31/2008 17:00, there was only one TU inquiry (the bureau used by Barclays in her area). **The FarmBureau app pulled TU possibly at the time when all new TU inquiries disappear temporarily; with low inquiry total, they approved the application. Important to note that for the 3 apps completed on 7/30/2008, only one credit report was pulled. (the disappearing inquiry phenomenon is nothing new to many here, but I cant cite examples in my brief search here). If the theory is true, might this timing thing work to our collective advantage when applying at known TU pulling issuers? That is to say, should we all submit second applications on the 2nd day for issuers pulling TU? |

I've been waiting patiently for Mrs J's Experian pin number so that American Express can pull her file. I understand from Win333's experience, it takes 2 weeks. I wanted to have them view her report clean - without new tradelines. As it stands 8/11/2008, she has 3 new revolving tradelines reporting: 2500 Juniper 08/04/2008 10000 Juniper 07/29/2008 8000 Discover 08/10/2008 Once we get them the pin, they might deny not based on too many inquiries, rather too many new accounts opened < 6 months. From my AOR2.0 thread (I thought it appropriate for discussion here): DjPiLL said:Also with experian frozen, were there any banks or issuers that denied you because of this?
I would love to freeze my Experian since i already have 12 inquiries.
ETA: I see BOA likes to use EX so I guess I will have to unfreeze EX. But when you do you un freeze EX in the AOR process? As you pointed out, BOA denies for lack of credit report access. So does AMEX and Wells Fargo. My wife's experience follows for reference.
ISSUER Term Rate Fee Apply A/D Limit Bureau NOTE AMEX/BLUE 99 5% 99 Link D 00000 EX Due to the freeze you placed on your credit file, we were unable to obtain sufficient credit information to process your application AMEX CLEAR ............ Link D 00000 EX Due to the freeze you placed on your credit file, we were unable to obtain sufficient credit information to process your application AMEX HILTON ............ Link D 00000 EX Due to the freeze you placed on your credit file, we were unable to obtain sufficient credit information to process your application BOA PlatPlus 12 0% 0 Link D 00000 EX unable to obtain credit report BOA NEA Card 12 0% 30 Link D 00000 EX unable to obtain credit report Wells Fargo 9 0% 75 LgdIn D 00000 EX We obtained a report which contained a "security freeze." We are unable to contimue processing your application
As for your timing question to unfreeze??? I am of the opinion that unfreezing 5 days following an AOR is a good rule of thumb. My thinking is that most apps have completed their reviews of TU, EQ and EX(frozen). You want to be able to provide the likes of BOA, American Express and Wells Fargo a clean Experian file with no new tradelines resulting from your 5 day old AOR**
**One lesson I've learned from placing a freeze at Experian: To provide AMEX, BOA and/or Wells Fargo rights to view your credit file, you must provide your pin number to them. NOTE: Place your freeze on Experian at least 2 weeks before you commence AOR. While the freeze takes effect immediately at Experian, receiving your pin takes 2 weeks according to bureau-bodacious Win333.
Our family freeze experience mirrors that of Win333's... our freeze was placed 7/29/2008 and through 8/11/2008 we both had not received our pin numbers (key to unlock credit file). We tried to get our pin sooner by clicking "forgot my pin." Results here in theman's thread.

* INSTANT APPROVAL **APPROVAL email @ O-600 the very next morning NOTE: Although many issuers report new tradelines right away, I have requested several due date changes on most of the new cards in an attempt to delay statement printing and subsequent bureau reporting.
Most of the cards were approved on the 1st of the month with a standard due date falling 20-25 days after the 1st (i.e., DATE DUE used to be 8/21/2008). I changed most due dates to the 15th so that the next/(hopefully 1st) statement will print on or about 8/20/2008 and not report to the bureaus until that time (in theory anyway - we'll see). |

You: i just received a new card 7 days ago for 8000 credit line. can i still apply for this one too? Deb: That's a great question! Deb: You do need to wait for 10 months before you apply for a additional card with us .Establish some history and we can issue you another card . Deb: Thanks for asking .Did you have any other questions? You: so then 2 cards are an option at Discover then (after 10 months)? Deb: Oh yes!You are welcome to have up to 3 cards in your name. |

To be certain I received a promotional BT-Free code via ecorrespondence. Text of messages follow: ME:I'd like to request another balance transfer. I would like to pay my auto loan off. I didn't include the loan in my original application. Would there still be a balance transfer fee? We appreciate your interest in requesting to process more Balance Transfers. To receive 0% for 12 months with no transfer fee, please use promotional code 45248. You have two options on the website to find the request form for a balance transfer: go online...blah blah blah... |
