TyroneSchulace said:Wonderful thread, Mike - full of great info. Was that Wachovia app by phone? If so, what did they say? Also, I might have missed it, but what revenue did you put on the biz apps, and is the biz reporting anywhere?Wachovia was by phone, they don't give instant decisions, but process/review it manually. My sis and I were both denied. Business Revenue was $500. |

MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE CITI ADVERSE ACTION. LET ME REPEAT, MASSIVE. CITI HAS CLOSED EVERY CREDIT CARD FOR EVERY PERSON IN MY ENTIRE FAMILY. ALL OLD CARDS (SOME LIKE 8 YEARS OLD) TO ALL NEW CARDS. OVER 20 CARDS CLOSED, PERSONAL AND BUSINESS, ALL ASSOCIATED CARDS (KEY AND ASSOCIATED BANK ALSO CLOSED). None of the cards were AU cards, some of them were used for daily spenders. No one has ever missed a payment, and everyone's credit scores were 700+. My mom, dad, sister, and myself have had every Citi card closed. We each got letters in the mail stating all the accounts were closed. My sister and I have done a recent AOR, but my mom and dad have not applied for any credit for 13 months. Mom has $0 balances reporting also. There is no reason given on their closure letters. It says "Specifically, your credit report indicates." No reason at all. I'm going to fight this but it does not spell good news at all, especially since mom and dad have not applied for any credit and mom's credit reports indicate $0 balances right now. It appears basically what happened is that they noticed that my family has individually borrowed a lot of credit with them, and then closed all my mom and dad's credit cards at a random time, depsite them not having applied recently. To make matters worse, they have locked some (keybank) of the online logins so I can't even view my balances to make a payment without calling. Pretty good data point (in addition to the previous thread on Citi AA), about thier new postion on risk management. |

Wow. Good luck with the fight, MikeR397. I know you'll take this as far or farther than any FWFer would. |

I'm going to Cayman Islands Th-M, and I'd prefer to enjoy myself rather than stress about Citi and thier BS (not that I don't deserve this anyway ). |

What kind of balances with Citi, personal and business, did everyone have when they closed the cards? See if you can find the A/R soft pulls from Citi (mine are always EQ) to determine exactly when they started the process. Have fun on your trip, and don't worry about Citi. Given mom and dad's lengthy credit history, you should be able to get some lines restored. (It's possible - you've seen my story.) |

Do all people in your family whose CCS Citi closed share identical address somewhere on the credit report? |

(It's possible - you've seen my story.)Thanks for the optimism. Me, sis, and mom had $0 balances with citi at the time. Dad had about $12k personal, $17k on the Keybank card, and about $18k on the professional, no business. Where can I see the soft pulls? The only time I've seen them is getting my free annual credit report. I don't think TrueCredit, CreditProtect, or CreditSecure shows them, do they? |

Good luck on the Citi fight. That is very severe as adverse action comes. Just curious, you mentioned your dad had 29k outstanding with Citi. How do they close those accounts without them being paid first? They surely wouldn't forgive the 29k. I don't doubt you can at least get a couple of the lines restored. I'm very curious as to what the have to say, but I'll wait patiently until you return from the Caymans. Thanks for providing a valuable data point! |

You have my sympathies and my gratitude. I was trying to decide between doing a BT on my wife's Associated Bank Card or attempting to re-allocate its CL to her CashReturns card. I'll definitely choose the latter, thanks to your information, and will limit our activities with Citi to be CashReturns-related. BTW, we'll go through our usual pattern of paying off the balance multiple times per month (in order to keep reporting balances low) and not using approximately 50% of the combined CL of both of our CashReturns cards, at any one time. I hope the above will avoid adverse action, but clearly Citibank is recognizing the risk of unsecured credit, and is tightening its policies, including IMO overreacting. |

An excellent strategy. If you're hammering CashReturns, I would definitely avoid all other debt with Citi. I think that's ultimately what landed me in Citi's naughty corner. |

I think Citi, BOA and Chase are all adopting a new strategy of reviewing everyone at the same address when they find a situation that concerns them. OP describes massive adverse action by Citibank. I have seen similar action by BOA. They reviewed and closed every account at my address, including my wife's accounts (with relatively low balances) and those of two college student sons. I half expect the same treatment from Chase in another month. I think these banks are violating federal law by considering the credit of other people at the same address. OP's example is the most clear; they closed accounts that presented no problem at all considered on their own, and in fact were unable to even give a reason for the closing in some cases. Surely it is not legal to close an account simply because you live with people who are credit risks. Each of us has the right to be considered on his or her own merits. Most of the reasons given are clearly trumped up. |

And they do ask about "household income" when you apply, so it's no surprise that they should deal with you as a household and not an individual. All in all, I suspect that everything is covered somewhere in the fine print. |

I just want to confirm that all the citibank accounts were truly segregated from each other (no joint or AU going on). Also, do you have any citibank deposit accounts in the mix, with any joint-linking going on? Agree that it sounds like you got nailed via the shared address. |

Agree that it sounds like you got nailed via the shared address.Correct, absolutely not 1 shared account at all. No desposit accounts at all, only credit cards with Citi. Also, to make matters worse, I've been fighting to get my Cash Rewards card open for 2 weeks...The first week the manager who reviews this for me was on a business trip, and now this entire week she is on vacation, and apparantly there is no one else there that can reveiw my account. The further problem is that I really can't get obnoxious and demand review now b/c that can't help my chances. I'm pretty much at Citi's whim. |
