Citi CLI request on crack?

Actually I tried a similar thing on all of my 4 cards couple of months ago. While only one card has shown me luv outright, all other cards got nice increases in short time, even though I did not fill in the form.

Not going to request a new CLI though, I don't need a credit penis, or at least not of this type. Planning to soon apply for the goodie card.

Ditto.

I tried on my citi div plat select (12 years old).

I just tried on my AT&T Universal Card (different login as many of you know)...

Without receiving a form to fill out, I received the following message this morning:

"We regret that we cannot approve your request for a Credit Line Increase at this time. Your request was processed by the credit record we have on file, as well as a credit scoring system, which assigns a numerical value to various items on your credit card account(s). Well, what I said earlier seems to have been just a glitch. I'm now up to $13.3k.

kevinkevinkevin said: 1 for 3

$11.1k to $12.35k
$2.5k stays
$2.9k stays

I didn't realise we could keep doing it, so my $11.1k is now $25k. The others won't budget...stupid citi!

I also got the message to call customer service for information about my request (on both of my personal Citi cards). I called on one card, and CSR said she saw the request and said it had not been declined or accepted. She advised me to wait and sign in later to see if it was approved. So that's weird. I worried they had closed my accounts or something like described in the recent AA thread, but no indication of that so far. Will try to use one card today to see if it still works.

Will others who got the "call 1-800-" message please post saying what ultimately happened with your request? I wonder if that message means they are routing our request to a credit ninja. (D'oh!)

Cheers, VW

I received the same message as you. I called.

Rep: "I cannot verify whether one was requested last night. How much are you looking for?"
Me: "An additional $1000 (from $3000 to $4000) only if it does not involve a hard credit inquiry."
Rep: "It would only receive a hard inquiry if I submit it on for referral."
Me: "OK... go for it"
Rep: "It tells me you have had recent credit line inquiries." [NOTE: she did not say recent credit line increases/decreases... it's true, I requested and was denied an increase 3/9/08]
Me: "So then I'm denied?"
Rep: "It doesn't say approved nor denied (pause). Maybe check back in 24-48 hours and see what happens."

CITI Is Asking For Their Own CLI

Gotta put that money to use somewhere

Citigroup Inc., seeking to bolster capital depleted by mounting losses, raised $4.5 billion in a stock sale, 50 percent more than it planned after ``strong demand'' from investors.

Citigroup, the biggest U.S. bank, sold 178.1 million shares at a price of $25.27 each, it said in a statement today. Shares of the New York-based company fell 2.9 percent in New York trading.

Whohooooooo mine got increased from 15000 to 25000

So the card worked when I used it for a small purchase. Old CLI still showing online. Weird all around.

Nice.. my Citi Simplicity went from 16700 to 24700, the next jump took me 300 to 25000, and I figured that was the end of the road.

Yeah, did it a few times in a row, then tried one more time after I hit 25000 and they offered a $0 increase, which I took (hehe) and then just got an error message.

Just to add that data point.

Just a suggestion to all participants. The more you post about it the more likely it is for citi to discover the glitch. The more likely it is that citi discovers the glitch, the more likely it is that you will receive AA.

The glitch is a great glitch, use at your own risk, however it becomes riskier and risker the more you guys keep posting how you jacked up your limits.

I offer 2 suggestions, either do not partake in the glitch, or better yet enjoy the glitch but don't post online about it. Check the thread, make your own decision, but the more you guys blab about it the more likely it is we ALL get AA.

Remeber junami folks.

Another data point for MTVu card: Wanted me to fill out the form. Didn't go for it. No instant CLI

Got a $400 increase, which is no big deal, except that it got me to $25K even and that's a milestone for a single card as far as I'm concerned. They would not give me an increase from $24,600 last year when I asked, so thanks for the heads up!

There may be an exception to this limit if you are just reallocating credit limits between cards. I got 3 credit lines to $25K with this 'glitch' that were all previously around $1K each (from my previous reallocation). This just goes to show how potentially valuable keeping all your old accounts open.

DiabloD3 said: Citi set mine back to the original $4k when I logged in again... but I requested a CLI and it went back up to $7.3k... so wtf? Did they catch onto us?

EDIT: So, I waited an hour, and bumped it back up to $9.3k. Lets hope it sticks this time.

32 hours later and mine is still at $25K so I don't think mine will be rolled back. I received a flood of emails from Citi tonight notifying me of each of my small credit line increases. The emails arrived for only one of my two cards. I predict another email flood for the other card will arrive sometime soon.

I never have any luck with the CLI button with Citi...

And I just completed going from $4k to $25k. I win.

Got 17100->17850 on a Diamond Preferred Rewards recently converted from a Professional card. Got the form on my other cards with smaller lines.

It didn't work for me with a Citi Platinum Select MC that has a $17,500 CL. Received the long form when I clicked on the CLI button.

Man what a rush! Took my Diamond Preferred from 10.6k to 25k, in 1k increments, I think there was even a 3k increase somewhere in there. Got the same $0/error at the end.

No go on my Drivers Edge and Dividend AMEX.

Has anyone here been hit by some sort of maximum total credit exposure limit with citi? I would like to solicit total exposures from citi from other forum members. I will start:

my exposure is around 56K over 4 cards. Only one card went to 25k, all others asked for long form.

"Congratulations! Your credit line can be immediately increased by 0.00 for a total new credit line of 25,000.00.

During the evaluation process, a credit bureau report was not pulled.

Please indicate below whether or not you accept this amount, or if you want a lower credit line, call Customer Service at 1-800-950-5114."

Looks like I maxed it out going from $20K to $25K

What is the advantage of this anyways? I mean the way I see it unneeded credit limits are a negative on your score.

danteshors said: What is the advantage of this anyways? I mean the way I see it unneeded credit limits are a negative on your score.

The "way you see it" means nothing.

Here's the way the Fair Isaac see's it: READING MATERIAL

In particular, note the following passages:

"Outstanding debt. Amount owed on all accounts and on different types of accounts, such as credit cards or installment loans. How many accounts have balances? How close are you to each credit limit? According to Fair Isaac, this category usually determines about 30% of your score."

"Proportion of balances to credit limits..."

"Proportion of loan balances to loan amounts..."

danteshors said: What is the advantage of this anyways? I mean the way I see it unneeded credit limits are a negative on your score.

actually, "too much available credit" is a semi-common reason for A/A and/or application denial. a bogus reason, granted, but a possibility nonetheless.

FICO is not the only determinant of how lenders see you.

Did not work on any of my 4 citi personal cards. Disappointing.

They changed the number to 1-800-CALL-FOR-TROUBLE

I am going to stress this AGAIN and maybe bold the important parts this time:

The more you guys post about this the more likely it is you create AA for ALL of us, including those who discovered this glitch early on.

Cant you guys just take the increases and enjoy them without continuing to post about it?

Sweet it works on my Citi CashReturns card that has a 0% BT promo

Edit: 3% uncapped BT fee kills the deal

Only got long forms for all three of my cards.

"Congratulations! Your credit line can be immediately increased by 0.00 for a total new credit line of 25,800.00.

wtf?

1 for 2, but only increase by 750.

wtf?

If you read the thread, you will see that nobody gets online increases past $25,000. Once they get to $25k, they get the "increase of $0" message.

Struck out on all four of my Citi Cards - two "Please call" responses and two long forms.

This is at least twice you've posted on this topic. Please STOP so that Citi doesn't find out about us. Thx.

Yesterday the CLIs hit my email... was laughing at the "Your Recent Online Activity" so many times. I had a moment of 'WTF... oh yeah :-p '

I've got a better idea. How about there are certain tiers on fatwallet that someone with a less than +X rating cant see threads until they obtain a +X rating by contributing, that way people that have never posted cant come on and tell people to be quiet about something that benefits the community. It would keep scrubs and spies out alike.

First Dividend card $2,000 increase.
Second Dividend card $1,000 increase.

Will try again later to see if I can get another increase again.
