Any idea what brand? Warranty?

Sweet deal....wish they wouldn't limit to one. Makes it a PITA to get these for a RAID setup.

Is "Major Brand Name" code for refurb?

lately, Fry's has been advertising Major Brand Name for new items, maybe as a way to get around the "price too low to be advertised" situation with some manufacturers.

how does fry's enforce the limit 1 per person? is it by payment method (cc#)? or do they mean limit 1 per transaction. can i just do the...walk back in the store and buy another one...thing?

When I bought a HD at Fry's a few weeks back, the sales guy had to generate a purchase order on his computer. I then took that to the check-out where they pulled the item and sold it to me. That would probably let them control sales to some extent. For items on regular display, there's not much they could do to prevent you from walking back in and buying more.

I go back in the store and buy an item again and use a different payment method. Works all the time.

This is a good deal. Looks like I may have to go for 2 - any coupon codes? is this company reliable?

They have 8MB cache version of WD last time. And this time is 32MB Cache. If the brand is good, maybe need to swap it out. Only installed the W7 without activation, so still have chance to do so...

Sounds like same deal from 3 weeks ago.

It was WD green drive in OEM bag - no wires, etc. I didn't get is as it's only 5.4k rpm even though WD claims it's 7.2k rpm. OK for data hard drive and not so good for main drive for OS and programs.

BTW - Fry 3 weeks ago also had full retail Seagate 1TB 7.2k rpm for $69.99.

There are only two reasons they generate a purchase order. First is for any item in the cage, they have to have a purchase order to get it out. The second is so the salesman can get a commission or other kind of recognition.

They could in theory restrict number of units sold with this method, but in practice they don't. Cause if they did, you'd just take your coworkers to lunch and have them all buy one and sell it to you.
